Hello, everybody. As September comes to a close, I would like to speak on my experiences thus far.
August really was more of a month for getting settled in, whereas September was the month of getting into the routine. Other than the campus and change in schedule, it really does feel like high school all over again. Especially because of the students. You would think that adults would have more maturity than teenagers in class, but since professors aren't keeping students accountable as often as high school teachers might, they're almost less responsible. At least, it appears that way.
The campus really is nice, though, even if parking is impossible to find and I've almost been run over no less than 2 times while I've been here. I've explored much of it in my free periods. One particularly nice spot is a garden area that's open to all students. If you can get over the smell, it's a quiet place to study while surrounded by nature. Asides from that, there is no shortage of coffee shops around campus, which I am quite grateful for.
I have looked up my professors on Rate My Professor before enrolling in their classes, and from what I've experienced so far, not all of the ratings seem to be accurate. I'm especially confused by the ratings for one of my classes, in which a primary complaint was that there were too many quizzes. As it stands now, we have had zero quizzes as well as zero planned quizzes. On the other end of the spectrum, the ratings for another professor praised them for no exams, but there are three entire midterms plus the final exam in the syllabus. I have already taken one of these midterms. Perhaps I simply do not know how to use the site.
I am taking the maximum amount of credits allowed for one semester, but I still have ample free time to spend. This is most likely because these classes are meant for freshmen, however. I assume things will begin to get more difficult in the future, so I am making the most of the time I have now. I meet with the other admins nearly every day between classes, and it's nice.
That is all from me. Have a wonderful day.
